Now is the time to add a light theme to this app 😁. I propose to make an application in two themes (light and dark) that can be selected in the application settings.

Hi, as of today SimplyTranslate supports Google TTS, (you can see it here: https://simplytranslate.org) and I would love for this to be implemented in this app as well. There is an api endpoint at /api/tts?engine={engine}&lang={lang}&text={text}

A very useful feature Google Translate has is that it shows you alternative translations (couples by their own alternative translations) ordered by frequency. Since Simply gathers the translations from google translate, it should be possible to also gather these. I believe adding this layout to the main screen would be a great QOL feature

Maybe even copying g translate's layout would work well

Problem:

The graphical interface is too large. This is annoying and reduces efficiency when using the app.

Possible Solution(s):

• Reduce the size of the input text boxes.
• Move icons to a row, instead of in a column.
• Move Translate button to the top. (or don't even show it at all, and have it only appear above the keyboard)

@ManeraKai I think it's time to release a new version with fixed bugs and additional features 😉.

Proposal for the new version of the application to add information for the character counter. After clicking on the character counter, information about the number of characters would appear, for example: "Entered 15 characters out of 5000 possible". If it exceeds the value of 5000 characters when the counter is red, then after tapping it may change to e.g. "Exceeded limit 5 characters out of 5000 possible".

Information like this: "The translation input is above 5000".

Such additional information would immediately explain what this meter is about. Currently, the user can click on the character counter, but nothing happens. Only later realizes that this is just information, not a function button.

You should set a limit for the number of text characters. If you enter more than 100000, the character counter icon will spread. Restriction on entering and pasting text 😉.

I suggest limiting to 9999 characters.

When selecting a text for translation from another application, e.g. a web browser, the problem arises that if the translator has the languages set, eg French <-> German, and the text is in English and I want to translate it into Polish, it requires re-translation.

The suggestion is that in the application settings you can set the default language, e.g. Polish, to which you want to translate. After selecting the translator "Simply Translate", the application would automatically change the languages to: Autodetect <-> Polish. If the user changed to the default language e.g. Arabic, the translator would automatically change to Autodetect <-> Arabic.

I think it would make the application easier to use.

The completion of the new version of the application is near. Lots of new features and bugs have been fixed, the app has been given a new look and theme selection.

When you enter the address of your own instance (some false one) and tap on "Check", only the loading progress appears. After exiting and selecting "Custom" again from the menu, the progress bar continues to appear indefinitely.

1. Add button "Cancel" to be able to stop checking.
2. After exiting the window, the application should stop checking. After reselecting the window of setting your own instance, the "Check" button should appear.

https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/weblate/languages/#translations has all the language names, most of which are duplicated in https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/simplytranslate-mobile/main/ (actually over 70% of those strings) If not, it should use or ask to change the Weblate variants.

The issue is that when not translating all the names, new strings are missed, and end up at the bottom. Setting string-priority would help with the sorting, but still.

I went through the list 1 at a time, and attempted to translate a simple phrase multiple times to make sure the broken ones are actually borked.

for the ones that give the "check instance error", i visited the website and can confirm that the web frontend of these instances still do work.

if these can't be fixed, and other users can replicate the same results as me, i'd like to suggest removing them from the list so users can still use the Randomize option.
